What does the cross trainer train?

More versatile than the classic ergometer - simple full-body training on the cross trainer

The cross trainer is a popular piece of equipment for warming up in the gym and is used by both endurance athletes and strength athletes. And there is a simple reason for this: by moving the arms and legs simultaneously, the cross trainer is a training device for the whole body. At the same time, the elliptical movement makes it very easy to get started, as the gentle guidance avoids impact on the joints.

Workout on the cross trainer - what do you train on it?

As with training on the ergometer, rowing machine or treadmill, endurance training is the main focus for many athletes. The cross trainer is perfect for endurance training, especially machines with integrated heart rate measurement, as the palms of the hands have to be in contact with the measuring points throughout the entire workout anyway. This means you always have a precise metric without having to place your hands in an unnatural position. At the same time, cross trainers are quiet training devices, so you can enjoy podcasts, audio books or series without any problems, even during longer sessions at a lower intensity. Cross trainers are also a good choice for higher-intensity workouts (such as interval training), as even beginners can throw themselves into anaerobic sprints without feeling guilty without putting too much strain on their joints.

If you are primarily interested in training or warming up your muscles, the elliptical cross trainer is ideal for this. Although the elliptical trainer is basically designed so that you use your legs and arms in a flow, you can of course put more intensity on your legs and let your arms rest or lead the movement out of your arms. So if you want perfectly toned thighs for your bikini figure or fully warmed-up arms for the subsequent dumbbell workout, the cross trainer is the right choice in both cases. You always train both arms and legs as well as the upper body at the same time. This means that the front and rear thigh muscles work in both directions during the pull, as do the biceps and triceps or chest and neck muscles. Finally, a special feature of the cross trainer is that the force is exerted in both directions and this is necessary for proper execution.

All-rounder cross trainer: What do you train?

Workouts on the cross trainer are particularly intense and target all muscle groups in your body. Whether you simply want to get your body in better, athletic shape overall or are looking for an intensive warm-up, the cross trainer is the right choice.
