Vibration plates have been developed in the 1970s for space travel. The astronauts’ muscles decreased quickly in weightlessness and the vibration plates should counteract that. New tests have proved their effects also for athletes. Training with new or used vibration plates supports blood circulation, tightens the tissue, improves coordination and balance, fights cellulitis, increases bone density and accelerates rehabilitation after an accident.

Which kinds of new and used vibration plates exist and how does the training with them work?

Well-known brands are for example Power Plate, POWRX, Galileo Pro and many others. To decide on a kind gym equipment, it is best to try it out. On a new or used vibration plate the training person stands on a plate and the muscles get trained without active movements. Of course it is possible to intensify the workout by doing additional active movements like training with dumbbells or a breathing apparatus while using the machine. If you want to train especially the upper body, you can support with your hands on the plate. Exercising with a new or used vibration plate is equally suitable for beginners and professional athletes.

Which frequency is set for training on a new or used vibration plate?

The setting of the frequency range should be conform to the aim of the training. At the beginning about 10 HZ is used and it increases up to 50 HZ. The usual frequency of a new or used vibration plate is between 30 and 50 HZ. If you aim for a general improvement of the muscle function and want to ease strains it should be set on 10 to 20 HZ. If you want to have an effective muscle training by stimulating the muscles and nerves, a frequency between 20 and 30 HZ should be chosen. At this frequency the blood circulation is improved and pain is eased. The maximum vibration is at 6mm. Depending on the position of your feet, you can influence the vibration for yourself. The closer the feet are standing, the weaker is the vibration. Therefore the vibration gets stronger, if your feet are apart.
