On April 11, 2024, the excitement reached its peak: the renowned travel portal meintophotel.de presented the Aktiv Hotel Awards for the sixth time. This year, the awards ceremony took place for the first time during FIBO in Cologne, the largest global trade fair for fitness, wellness and health. FIBO served as the perfect stage for honoring outstanding active hotels in German-speaking countries, with the event also providing important insights for hoteliers and spa operators. On April 11, the focus was on the German hotel industry and visitors were given deeper insights into the sector through specialist presentations and expert discussions.
The award ceremony took place in the festively decorated Hall 8, presented by 'Mein Tophotel'. Awards were presented to hotels that impress with innovative concepts and solutions in their active areas. These awards are based on the recommendations of the hotel guide 'Mein Tophotel' 2024, which is available both online and in a high-quality print edition.
Under the expert moderation of Emily Whigham, the participants experienced an emotional awards ceremony at which the following hotels emerged as winners:
Golf:
Sonnenalp Resort in Ofterschwang (Germany)
Also nominated in the golf category were the Peternhof Wohlfühlresort in Kössen (A) and Ebner's Waldhof am See in Fuschl am See (A).
Yoga:
HUBERTUS Mountain Refugio Allgäu in Balderschwang (D)
Also nominated in the yoga category were the Hotel Winkler in St. Lorenzen (I) and the Sonnenalp Resort in Ofterschwang (D).
Fitness:
5-star wellness hotel Jagdhof in Röhrnbach (D)
Also nominated in the fitness category were the Quellenhof Luxury Resort Passeier in St. Martin (I) and the König Ludwig Inspiration Spa in Schwangau (D).
Bike:
mama thresl in Leogang (A)
The Preidlhof Luxury DolceVita Resort in Naturns (I) and the Good Life Resort Riederalm in Leogang (A) were also nominated in the Bike category.
Winter sports:
Suvretta House in St. Moritz (CH)
The Berghaus Schröcken in Schröcken (A) and the Hotel Rudolf in Bruneck (I) were also nominated in the winter sports category.
Mountain sports:
Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort in San Vigilio (I)
The Böglerhof - pure nature resort in Alpbach (A) and the Mountain & Spa Resort Alpbacherhof in Alpbach (A) were also nominated in the mountain sports category.
The event ended with a community meeting and dinner, which was accompanied by an inspiring keynote speech by world record freediver Christian Redl. FIBO thus not only provided a platform for the award ceremony, but also for networking and exchange within the industry.
