The 1st DIFG Business Day

The first Business Day of the German Industry Association for Fitness and Health took place on September 24. In Düsseldorf, almost 50 industry partners and studio operators discussed the opportunities, risks and key figures in the German fitness industry.

Almost 50 participants, mainly industry partners but also some operators of fitness facilities, took part in the first Business Day of the German Industry Association for Fitness and Health, DIFG e.V., on September 24, 2015 in Düsseldorf. Together with experts from EuropeActive, Creditreform, FIBO and Deloitte, the DIFG presented developments in the German and European fitness market. The IST-Studieninstitut in Düsseldorf not only provided the premises, but also created an appropriate atmosphere.

Fitness clubs have an important key function

The central theme of the day was developments in the "digital fitness & health market", which was a recurring topic in the presentations, but also in the talks and discussions during the breaks. It became clear that the fitness club industry can also see new opportunities with regard to growth in the health market: on the one hand, new target groups can be won over for fitness training in clubs and, on the other, member retention can be further improved. The DIFG will therefore be focusing on this topic in 2016 in order to highlight the opportunities and risks.
DIFG Managing Director Niels Nagel outlines the development: "Fitness can become a central feature of a future-oriented society. Fitness will therefore not just be limited to fitness clubs. What is important is the quality-oriented fitness club, which is the competence center for individual health management. The fitness club can therefore take on an important key function."
