The German Pilates Association (DPV) is the central point of contact for Pilates quality and competence in Germany. With currently 23 recognized training institutes and around 700 certified trainers and studios, the association is consistently committed to the highest standards in Pilates training and practice. Under the motto "It doesn't matter who trains you!", the DPV has launched a nationwide expert campaign to draw attention to the importance of qualified Pilates teachers.

Pilates mit Qualität: Warum die Wahl des Trainers entscheidend ist

Pilates: a global trend with quality standards

Pilates is enjoying growing popularity worldwide - millions of people are already benefiting from the positive effects of this holistic workout. However, with this fitness trend and boom, the number of providers offering Pilates classes without sound training is also increasing. This is precisely where the German Pilates Association comes in: Only those who have undergone certified training can teach the method professionally and safely.

What constitutes qualified Pilates training?

A recognized Pilates training course involves much more than just practicing on the mat. Vice President Kristina Dietrich explains: "Certified Pilates training includes training with equipment or on the mat, equipment knowledge, anatomical know-how and knowledge of the Pilates method and its principles."

Only trainers who have undergone this extensive training are able to respond to the individual needs of participants, correct poor posture and minimize health risks.

Stefanie Rahn, President of the German Pilates Association, therefore emphasizes: "People interested in Pilates should only visit certified trainers or studios, because only then can they be sure that they have received adequate training."

What makes Pilates so special?

The Pilates method: holistic and effective

Pilates is a systematic full-body workout that was developed by Joseph Pilates over 100 years ago. The focus is on strengthening the deep muscles, improving posture and promoting flexibility and body awareness. Pilates is characterized by controlled, flowing movements in combination with conscious breathing.

Who is Pilates suitable for?

Pilates is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It is used in both recreational and rehabilitation settings and can be adapted to the individual needs of the exerciser - another reason why qualified instruction is so important.
