Life Fitness extends its brand family with the finalized takeover of Cybex.

Today, its parent company, New Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), has purchased Cybex International Inc. for 195 million dollars.
The acquisition of Cybex extends Life Fitness’ extensive brand portfolio, especially in the premium equipment sector. “With Cybex, one of the most recognized brands in the fitness industry, our brand family’s leading line of products becomes even better”, says Chris Clawson, president of Life Fitness. “Cybex is a perfect match for us because the company develops high-class products and creates unique customer experiences.”

Founded in 1970 in Medway, Massachusetts, USA, Cybex offers a line of sturdy, top quality cardio and strength training equipment. While the company’s cardio products include treadmills, bikes and the much acclaimed Arc Trainer, the strength training portfolio encompasses stack weight machines, plate loaded machines, as well as functional training and free weight equipment. Cybex products are manufactured in Owatonna, Minnesota and Medway.

“We are very happy about Cybex becoming a part of our extensive offer which includes Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, SCIFIT, InMovement and Brunswick Billiards. This way, we can offer our customers the best selection of products and the best possible service and support in the industry”, says Clawson. “With the combined know-how of Cybex and Life Fitness we want to set a new and unique global standard for product quality, innovation and customer experience in the fitness sector.”

Cybex’ market position is to profit greatly from Life Fitness’ far-reaching distribution network which services well over 120 countries: “Cybex is one of the most recognized brands in the business”, Clawson notes. “We are determined to promote that brand worldwide and further extend the scope of its product lines.”
