After the confusion surrounding the openings of fitness studios in Munich, there is now good news for the fitness industry throughout Bavaria after all. As of 05/21/2021, gyms in counties with an incidence of less than 100 will be allowed to open their doors.
At the press conference on the Corona pandemic on 18.05.2021, Minister President Markus Söder announced that fitness studios in Bavaria will be allowed to reopen from 21.05.2021. The prerequisite for this is a negative Corona test and the wearing of a mask to the device. In addition, the incidence of the corresponding county must be below 100. This currently applies to 68 counties. To go along with terms like Click & Meet or Click & Collect, the term Click & Fit was introduced. The testing requirement is waived in counties with a stable 7-day incidence (5 days in a row) of less than 50.
Fitness studios now no longer recreational facilities
Previously, gyms in Bavaria were categorized as recreational, which was criticized by many gym operators. Now it has been announced that Bavarian gyms will in future be classified in the sports category.

The opening of fitness studios in Munich was already planned for May 12, 2021. From that day on, non-contact indoor sports should be possible again. Large fitness chains such as FitnessFirst and FitX, but also many other gym operators, were happy about the announcements and announced to their members that they would soon be able to train again. The prerequisite for this was strict hygiene measures, including booking an appointment and showing a negative Corona test.
As early as May 11, 2021, however, Oliver Platzer, spokesman for the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, made it clear that no opening date for gyms had yet been set.
