Life Fitness gets on the bicycle ergometer "Life Cycle" bicycle ergometer into virtual training. At the first international technology trade fair of the year, the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the company presented the content of its cooperation with VirZOOM, a manufacturer of virtual reality (VR) games. In the coming months, sports competitions will take place in the virtual world in selected fitness studios. "Combining Life Fitness equipment with virtual technology is an exciting step in the evolution of our equipment," said Ahmad Amin, Head of Digital Product Development at Life Fitness. "By partnering with VirZOOM, we can make workouts even more engaging and motivating. There is something for everyone: from athletic competition to a fun excursion into an exciting environment."
Fitness as a reality experience
VirZOOM's program uses the "Discover SE3" console to take the "Life Cycle" bicycle ergometer to various virtual locations and incorporates data such as pedalling speed, resistance and heart rate into the action, which the athletes see through VR glasses. They can intervene in the game by controlling the fitness device. "Our collaboration brings the virtual reality experience to gyms," said Spencer Honeyman, Head of Business Development at VirZOOM. "Our technology and games put athletes in a car, a tank or on a flying horse, for example. We use people's emotions to get them moving even more. This makes working out fun."
