FIBO 2019: Life Fitness presents new module system for small group training

4 Ratings

Life Fitness, the leading international manufacturer of premium fitness equipment, will present a module system at this year's FIBO from April 4 to 7 in Cologne (Hall 6, Booth A46) that enables any studio to incorporate the Small Group Training (SGT) trend into its offering. The modules consist of carefully selected combinations of strength and endurance equipment and accessories that can be used to quickly and easily create attractive group training spaces for intense and varied sessions.

"According to the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association IHRSA, personal training and small group training have become the main sources of revenue for gyms alongside membership fees - with small group training now almost twice as popular," said Mike Kavanagh, chief product officer for Life Fitness. "Life Fitness and its Hammer Strength brand have developed equipment combinations for functional training and cardio workouts that complement each other perfectly."

According to IHRSA, 18 million gym members signed up for small group training programs in 2016. That's more than 26 percent of all club members. To help studios meet this growing demand, Life Fitness has developed 13 different SGT modules. They are geared toward different training focuses and equipped with the matching product lines of the brand family - such as HD Athletic, SYNRGY, Hammer Strength Accessories and Life Fitness' cardio series. The concrete design and room layout can be flexibly adapted to all space conditions and requirements on site. The combination of modules allows a single trainer to instruct multiple participants with varying levels of ability at the same time.

"Properly executed, small group training can be a highly effective training method that engages exercisers and motivates them to achieve their goals over the long term," says Greg Highsmith, vice president of strength and endurance training for Life Fitness. "We help gym owners create the right rooms and spaces for it. No matter what the infrastructure is at the location."

One of the new modular elements being unveiled at FIBO is the SYNRGY180 functional training system, a space-saving and extensively equipped workout wall. It can be equipped with a variety of training options depending on the desired size and training focus - from fitness bands to pivot bars to rope pulls, wall bars and more.

Life Fitness' SGT modules are complemented by digital instructors. For this, the company is partnering with Functional Solutions, a developer of visual training aids. They show exercisers the optimal sequence of movements for individual exercises on screens. These virtual trainers can guide exercisers during individual workouts or support the real trainer during small group training.

In addition to this premiere, Life Fitness' FIBO booth will feature an exclusive preview of the new performance treadmill and workout shows. Another focus will be on digital solutions for club and member management.
