Description

Device data & highlights of the Dyaco 8.0U MED

The 8.0U MED combines scientifically based exercise control with a high level of user-friendliness. A coloured beacon on the console visualizes exercise intensity, remaining time or targets and provides therapists with a quick overview of training progress. The 360-degree swivel mount allows the console to be positioned so that the patient is always clearly visible. The step-through design makes it easier to get on and off the bike and minimizes the risk of falling.

Power control on the Dyaco Bike takes place via three resistance variants, constant power (watt control), isokinetic and constant resistance with an adjustable range of 5 to 1,200 watts and 100 resistance levels. A magnetic brake unit ensures low starting resistance and fine gradations.

Resistance in both directions of movement

The Bike 8.0U MED can be operated forwards and backwards. The bidirectional resistance enables direct retro-cycling to address different muscle groups. For patients with limited mobility, the crank arm length can be optionally adjusted and the ergonomic saddle offers generous forward/backward adjustment for different body sizes. A manual brake lever and an automatic brake function, which stops the swing to the exact degree, increase safety.

Programs, connectivity and training analysis

A symmetry program for measuring left-right force distribution, the Wingate test for anaerobic performance diagnostics and a power distribution program for graphically displaying the watt distribution over one pedal revolution are available for analysis and testing.

The Dyaco Bike also offers numerous pre-installed training profiles such as timers, interval (HIIT), plateau, steep ramp or Conconi tests as well as goal-oriented programs (heart rate, calories, METs). Heart rate sensors and external apps can be connected via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (BLE FTMS) or ANT+; USB, NFC and RS-232 interfaces are also available, for example for connecting cardiac stress test systems. With a maximum load of 200 kg, the ergometer is suitable for a wide range of patients.

Training content and stressed muscles

The 8.0U MED is used in a variety of ways in everyday rehabilitation. Typical applications include warm-up programs using the timer, consistent endurance units to improve cardiovascular fitness and intensive interval or Wingate tests to analyze anaerobic performance. The symmetry program makes it possible to identify and specifically correct imbalances between left and right leg muscles - an important component in neurological rehabilitation. With the bidirectional pedal option, therapists can instruct both forward and backward cycling to activate different muscle chains.

These muscles and muscle groups are trained on the bike

Cycling primarily works the leg and gluteal muscles. Studies cite the quadriceps and hamstrings (front and back of the thighs) and the gluteus maximus as the main strength producers. During the power phase of the pedal rotation (12 to 5 o'clock), hip extension and knee extension work together. The glutes and quadriceps initially provide the impetus here, followed by the hamstrings and calf muscles.

The calf muscles (gastrocnemius and soleus), the leg flexors and the tibialis anterior muscles are also important for stability. The trunk, in particular the abdominal muscles and erector spinae, are stabilized by the posture on the bike. Depending on the training goal, therapists can select different programs: constant load for endurance, isokinetic settings to control the cadence or watt control for targeted performance enhancement.
