FPZ has published the world's largest study on medical strength training in patients with chronic back pain in the journal B&G Bewegungstherapie und Gesundheitssport.

Back pain is a major general health problem and causes high economic costs. The causes of back pain are manifold and require a biopsychosocial approach to diagnosis and therapy in order to distinguish the high proportion of functional disorders from dominantly organic diseases.

The present study retrospectively investigates the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of device-assisted back pain therapy in more than 100,000 chronic back pain patients over a 30-year period.

Participants attended 24 therapy sessions at a therapy center. Maximum strength measurements of the trunk and neck muscles were performed before and after therapy, and participants were surveyed about exercise frequency, pain, and quality of life.

The results showed significant improvements in all parameters analyzed (p<0.001). Thus, patients achieved improvements in strength, pain, quality of life as well as economic parameters.
