Fitness equipment manufacturers are coming up with increasingly fancy and chic new machines for the roughly 7 million people in Germany who work out regularly in a gym or from home. At FIBO 2013, the Leading International Trade Show for Fitness, Wellness and Health, in Cologne, Germany, the latest innovations and trends were presented again this year.
The enormous fitness boom of recent years was directly reflected in the numbers of trade show visitors and exhibitors. With a total of 96,700 visitors, the trade fair recorded growth of 30% compared to the previous year. And the number of exhibitors also reached a record high of 612.(1)
The winners of the FIBO-INNOVATIONS-AWARDS 2013 shone with creative further developments.
In the exercise equipment category, the winner was BILT by Agassi & Reyes with its C.O.D. machine. The ergonomic arrangement of the machine's flexible parts allows for an intense and at the same time safe workout while sitting or standing. This combines a natural posture and at the same time a safe and accurate line of the exercises, relieving the back and neck muscles.
In the health category, LMT Deutschland AG won the award with its product "The Postural Line". This product focuses on sensorimotor functions, which is particularly innovative in this form. With the help of the technology, posture can be measured and trained. And thanks to specially developed hardware and software, an individual training program for posture correction can be automatically created for customers. This gives the product a chance to be used in the post-acute phase of a rehabilitation program, as well as in fitness applications such as classic cardio and isotonic programs.
In the Communication & Design category, Stilum fitness came out on top with its "Outdoor Fitness Equipment with Resistance Sensor" full-body circuit. The devices make it possible thanks to particularly manufactured rubber buffers as diametrical resistance to address sportsmen of most different achievement classes. In addition, its use is self-explanatory and allows for very effective training intervals.(2)
The winners of this year's FIBO-INNOVATIONS-AWARDS reflect the fast innovation cycle in the fitness, wellness and health industry.
