Bonn model bears first fruits

4 Ratings

The rapprochement between commercial studios and representatives of club sports in Bonn initiated by BVGSD e.V. and DFAV e.V. is now paying off for the first time. Sportpark Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, which operates three facilities in the city's suburbs, and the long-established Post-Sportverein Bonn recently agreed on a long-term cooperation. The moderation part between the parties took over speaker Sandra Horschel of the city sport federation Bonn and BVGSD office manager Marcus Willems. They were and are responsible for the strategic planning in the run-up to the concrete agreement. In the coming months, further rounds of talks are planned between commercial fitness studios and sports associations in Bonn, which will hopefully in turn lead to cooperation.

Agreement between Stadtsportbund & Bonn fitness studios

In December 2013, the Stadtsportbund Bonn and an initiative of Bonn fitness studios, mediated by the DFAV and the newly founded BVGSD, had agreed on a constructive and cooperative partnership. At this meeting, both the studio operators and the clubs gained mutual trust. The mutual desire for a prosperous coexistence quickly crystallized.

Cooperation instead of confrontation

The "Bonn Model" is based on the cooperation concept of commercial studio operator Thomas Röhrle from Fellbach. Instead of confrontation, the BVGSD regional representative for Baden-Württemberg opted for cooperation: Röhrle concluded an agreement with the local club under which club members can train in the gym at a reduced fee and the club also receives a "kick-back" per club member from the gym operator - a win-win situation for both parties.
